Emily’s voice is a deep and soulful mixture of blues and jazz, influenced by a musical upbringing listening to records at home and years of playing saxophone in concert and jazz bands throughout school, competing regionally. Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and live looping solo artist from Vancouver Island, Canada. With a unique ability to build soundscapes from the ground up using only her voice, laptop, and loop station, Emily creates an intimate, immersive musical experience. She has independently released three EPs and two singles on her own label, Beacon Hill Records (established in 2003), including the EP "Live at the Apartment," which she wrote while busking in New Zealand. Emily has toured internationally and opened for acts such as Kytami, Dub FX, Ash Grunwald, and Kim Churchill. She has performed at numerous festivals across Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, including The Big Time Out, Rhythm on The Rock, Nannup, Yackandandah Folk Fest, Shambhala, Desert Daze, Komasket Music Festival, and Te Ao Marama. Emily delivered two performances at TEDx Comox Valley (2011 & 2012) and performed in Macau, China, as part of the Crush band on a three-month contract in 2003. Her music has been licensed to film, television, and advertising—including placements in the films "Zombie Punch," "I Can Get That For You Wholesale," and the short film "From Place to Place," her starring role and original song "Move" in a 2015 Jeep commercial, various projects like Carter and Bergdorf's, and a Dracula iPad app. She has collaborated with a diverse roster of global artists, DJs, and producers, including Numbersix, Em.Ash, Urihani, Shawn Ward, and Enso. Emily reached the semi-finals of the 2002 Great Canadian Music Dream competition, was awarded the Female Vocalist of the Year at the 2011 Vancouver Island Music Awards (VIMAs), and was awarded a Factor Grant in 2010.
